Presentation: “The Mysteries of International Mailing Explained” Merry Law, President of WorldVu LLC and international mail expert will present International Mailing Basics and how international mail can be handled more easily while saving time and money. Bring your questions about international mail.

 

Speaker: Merry Law, President of WorldVu LLC, oversees their publications, consulting, and worldwide marketing programs.  She is editor of the authoritative Guide to Worldwide Postal-Code and Address Formats and author of Best Practices for International Mailings.  Merry is an internationally recognized expert on international postal addresses.  She is a member of the Universal Postal Union POC Addressing Work Group and of the U.S. International Postal and Delivery Services Federal Advisory Committee and a founding member of the Global Address Data Association.  Merry consults with organizations on international databases, postal issues, and on direct marketing, helping them to overcome their barriers to doing business internationally.  She frequently writes and speaks on international addressing and mailing.

 

Tour of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Mail Center: Right after lunch, our host and Chapter Board member, Rod Toney, Manager of Mail Distribution and Transport System will give us a tour of the Hopkins’ automated mail center and see their massive, 1020 pocket Mail Matrix mail sorter in action.

This is our first event in Baltimore and a great opportunity to learn about international mail and see a world-class mail center in action. Travel from DC is an easy hop on the Metro to Union Station and a one hour delightful train ride to Baltimore Penn Station ($14.00 round trip). We will pick you up at Penn Station for a short ride to Johns Hopkins or drive, see directions below. With a start time of 10:30am, driving should not be a problem.

By Train from Washington, D.C. and Virginia ($14.00 round trip):

Metrorail to Union Station, MARC #412 departs 9:05am and arrives Baltimore/Penn 10:03am. Prearrange pickup and return to Penn Station with Jim Barlow (410) 303-1322 or Floyd Creecy (443) 762-4343.

Return: Baltimore/Penn Station, MARC #435 departs 2:35pm and arrives Union Station 3:39pm.

 

Driving Directions

 

From Washington, D.C. and Virginia:

·         Take I95 North to Exit 53 (I395 North) into downtown Baltimore.

·         Continue straight on I395 (stay left at fork; turns into Howard Street).

·         Turn RIGHT onto Pratt Street.

·         Continue on Pratt for approximately 1.5 miles to Broadway; turn LEFT on Broadway…Hospital Parking (Orleans Garage):

·         From Broadway, turn RIGHT onto Orleans Street.

·         Turn RIGHT into the Orleans Garage (at the Orleans Garage traffic light).

·         After parking, take the elevator to Level 4 (Main Level) and proceed across the enclosed pedestrian bridge to the main hospital.

 

From Philadelphia, New York and Northeastern Baltimore Suburbs

·         Take I95 South to Baltimore; merge onto I895 South.

·       From I895 South, take Exit 14/Moravia Road; turn LEFT onto Moravia Road at the traffic light at the end of the exit.

·       Turn RIGHT onto the US40 West/Pulaski Highway ramp. Hospital Parking (Orleans Garage):

·         Continue on US40 West/Pulaski Highway (turns into Orleans Street) approximately 3 miles to

N. Wolfe Street.

·         Immediately after crossing N. Wolfe Street, turn LEFT at the Orleans Garage traffic light (the hospital will be on your right).

·         After parking, take the elevator to Level 4 and proceed across the enclosed pedestrian bridge to the main hospital.

 

From York, Central Pennsylvania and Northern Baltimore Suburbs

·         Take I83 South into Baltimore.

·        At the end of the freeway, turn LEFT onto Fayette Street.

·        Continue on Fayette Street to Broadway and turn LEFT… Hospital Parking (Orleans Garage):

·        From Broadway, turn RIGHT onto Orleans Street.

·        Turn RIGHT into the Orleans Garage (at the Orleans Garage traffic light).

·        After parking, take the elevator to Level 4 and proceed across the enclosed pedestrian bridge to the main hospital.

 

From Annapolis and Maryland’s Eastern Shore

·         From Route 50, take I97 toward Baltimore and follow I97 to the Baltimore Beltway (I695) toward Towson.

·         Take the Beltway to the BaltimoreWashington Parkway (I295) North.

·        Follow I295 into Baltimore (it becomes Russell Street).

·        Turn RIGHT on Pratt Street.

·        Stay on Pratt for approximately 1.5 miles to Broadway; turn LEFT on Broadway…Hospital Parking (Orleans Garage):

·        From Broadway, turn RIGHT onto Orleans Street.

·        Turn RIGHT into the Orleans Garage (at the Orleans Garage traffic light).

·        After parking, take the elevator to Level 4 and proceed across the enclosed pedestrian bridge to the main hospital.

From Frederick and Western Maryland

·         Take I70 East.

·       Merge onto I695 S/Baltimore Beltway outer loop via EXIT 91A toward I95 S/Glen Burnie.

·       Take Exit 11A11B for I95 North/I95 South toward Baltimore/Washington; keep left at the fork and merge onto I95 North.

·        Take I95 North to Exit 53 (I395 North) into downtown Baltimore.

·        Continue straight on I395 (stay left at fork; turns into Howard Street).

·        Turn RIGHT onto Pratt Street.

·        Continue on Pratt for approximately 1.5 miles to Broadway; turn LEFT on Broadway…Hospital Parking (Orleans Garage):

·        From Broadway, turn RIGHT onto Orleans Street.
